Why Gucci behaves differently to every other house
Gucci lives or dies on geometry. GG canvas is a repeating pattern, and a repeating pattern demands alignment where two panels meet. That is a manufacturing cost, because alignment wastes leather and canvas, and it is the first thing a budget run gives up. One good frame of the seam tells you which you are looking at.
Hardware is the second argument. A horsebit or a chain has weight because it is solid metal, and that weight is why the piece feels correct on the body rather than merely correct in a photo. Weight is measurable, so it is askable: ask for the grams of the bag and the finish of the plating.
The Ace sneaker is a different product again - a leather-and-embroidery problem where stitch density around the monogram does the talking. Do not judge it by the same criteria as a bag, and do not let a seller let you.
Written for Gucci specifically. The same discipline applied to a different house produces a different list - see the brand index.
