Yupoo sizing: how to convert an Asian chart without guessing

Almost every sizing disaster in this ecosystem comes from treating a size label as a measurement. This page replaces the label with numbers you can actually compare.

Why the label is useless

A Chinese "L" and a European "L" are not the same object. Worse, they are not even consistently different: the gap depends on the factory, the garment type and the batch. The only stable information on a listing is the measurement table, and the only measurement table worth using is the one for that specific listing.

So the routine is: measure a garment you own and like, then find the listing row whose numbers match those measurements — not the row with your usual letter size.

How to measure the garment you already like

Lay it flat, smooth it, and measure across, then double the chest and waist numbers.

  • Chest: 1 cm below the armhole, straight across.
  • Shoulder: seam to seam, along the top.
  • Length: highest point of the collar down to the hem.
  • Sleeve: shoulder seam to cuff.
  • Waist (bottoms): across the top band, doubled.
  • Rise (bottoms): crotch seam to top of waistband, front and back.
  • Leg opening: across the hem, doubled.

Sneakers: centimetres beat every chart

Ask for the insole length in centimetres for the specific silhouette. Then compare with the insole of a pair that fits you. This single number resolves more sneaker sizing problems than all the conversion charts combined, because a moulded last differs between models even within one brand.

Questions

Asked most about this guide

Should I size up?

For cotton that has not been pre-shrunk, yes, once. For a boxy cut that is already oversized, no — the cut accounts for it.

What about shoes?

Use the insole centimetres. Then check whether the listing chart is sized for a wide or narrow last, because that is where the fit breaks.

The chart is only in Chinese.

The numeric columns are the same either way: chest, shoulder, length, sleeve. Numbers translate better than labels.
