Why Dolce & Gabbana behaves differently to every other house
Dolce & Gabbana is a print-and-fabric conversation. A shirt from this house is a saturated image on a woven ground, and both halves can fail independently: the print can be soft, misregistered or off-palette, and the fabric can be too thin to carry it. A garment that passes one and fails the other looks wrong in a way people struggle to name.
Registration is the first check. On a large floral, the pattern should meet at the placket and follow the pocket lines. It is a cutting cost, so it is the thing cheap production gives up first, and it is visible in a flat frame of the front.
The second is colour truth. These prints run warm and saturated, which is exactly what studio lighting and phone screens both destroy. Compare two listings of the same piece and treat the difference between them as the range of what might arrive.
